HOW IT STARTED

The Current Event started with a simple idea: bring people together, make it meaningful, and give back.

Our first unofficial Current Event took place in 2017 as a fundraiser fashion show benefiting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, raising more than $1,500 and planting the seed for what TCE would become.

In 2019, TCE hosted its first official Current Event—a Nightmare Before Christmas–themed fundraiser that turned a holiday party into real community impact. That night, we raised over $600 for a local nonprofit and collected a large donation of canned goods for a local food bank.

That was the moment TCE became more than an event. It became a model for impact.

Since then, TCE has grown from local gatherings to global initiatives, using culture, creativity, and community to drive meaningful change. Our largest impact to date came through leading the Community Impact initiative at Amazon re:Invent 2024, where attendees assembled more than 5,000 hygiene kits and helped direct $75,000 to nonprofit organizations.
